"Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes that you can do these things. Among them are a few Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or businessman from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid."
Prophetic words. As Eisenhower states in 1954 their numbers are negligable, but their will was strong. Almost exactly 50 years later after much manipulation and deciept those "Texas oil millionaires" finally got one of their own in the White House. Eisenhower would have taken Bush out back behind the barn and gave him a good old fashioned beatdown if he saw how he was running this country.
I've been thinking about writing this post for a while now, I just wasn't sure how to put into words what has been on my mind. I started writing online almost three years ago when I decided to create a satire website called Angryfinger.com (some of my current readers may not know that about that was the origin angryfinger). It was the first time I had done anything with a website and I didn't even know what blogging was at the time so I taught myself html and coded the entire site by hand. I brought on a few friends of mine and, somehow, we had fairly reasonable success with the site. After a miserable experience with someone who was hosting the site, angryfinger was buried and from it's ashes http://madguerillabrigade.com was created and is still alive today. After I decided to let go of MGB and take a stab at blogging I resurrected the name angryfinger.com which seemed to fit with the frothy build up of Buschco leading up to the election. Now I am here, just my name, blogging about stuff I find interesting. Screaming into the void about corporate whoriness (whore-ee-ness), selfish politicians and whatever else crosses my mind.
This is very strange. What the hell is wrong with President Bush, and I don't mean in the "oh my God you lied and invaded a country way" I mean in, I think there's really something either mentally or physically wrong with him.
He is in the middle of speaking to the press and he suddenly drops his head and mumbles something and then immediately continues speaking.
To fight back they've started building a creationist museum in Kentucky. Yeah, that's right. A creationist museum. In Kentucky. While one might initially be eager to celebrate the opening of any museum in Kentucky, leave it to the Bluegrass state to come up with something like this.
This is just scary. This image goes along with an article from museum's website that blames the Columbine massacre in part on the teaching of evolution in schools. They come to this conclusion because one of the kids was wearing a shirt with the name of a video game called "natual selection" on it.
This letter is to anyone in the world who is still sane. Which seems to, unfortunately, exclude most people in our respective governments who insist on creating and stockpiling new weapons of massdestruction daily.
When will the few billion poor schmucks of the world demand that these fucking maniacs running our countries and creating weapons powerful enough to destroy humankind get the fuck out? Are we just doomed to stand by and watch our governments keep building and stockpiling their arsenals till there's no hope of ever being safe again?
Basically, if you can't be a fighting Democrat in 2004, then you really shouldn't be a Democrat at all. Because without fight, at this point, we all know that we are lost.
That's the bottom line. There comes a time when you have to draw the line in the sand and stand up and fight for what you believe in. We need a mighty purge of the Democratic party. We have already lost control of the House, Senate and the White House what more do we have to lose.
Yet another momentus holiday in the American tradition is upon us. Thanksgiving. And this year, we all have a lot to be thankful for. For instance, I'm thankful for the fact that I have four more years worth of material for my blog.
Sadly, not many Americans know the true history of our wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. Sometimes amongst all the celebration, and all the thankfulness of how perfect our lives are, we sometimes forget the tradition and history of one of the world's most specialist of days. Thanksgiving.
There must come a time in this country when people, hopefully politicians of some sort, start standing up and doing the right thing for the citizens of this country, ALL of the citizens of this country. Everyone is talking about the growing and mending that needs to take place in the U.S. However, true growth or healing cannot begin until we fix the glaringly obvious issues that continue to plague us today. Issues that, sadly, we turn a blind eye to. Issues that, while it may sound extreme, are not much different from fascist regimes of history. But when you lose the right to truly be free, to truly control your body and your will, what is left of your so-called-freedom?
